Spam on UserBB

the only plugin yet installed is vbstopforumspam.
We can try installing an akismet key but i don't know if that really helps.
I loved the approach of vbstopforumspam, sad to know that it doesn't help that much...

Akismet will help , I've been using it with vbulletin and blogs and they do work. Is it much trouble to actually implement that?

I can only confirm that spam problem is getting higher in astaro forums. 15 minutes ago I deleted 3 posts written on 16 of march (5 days ago!). In my opinion spammers become much more "smart" in publishing their posts. Recently they don't post new threads but simply a reply (in this case no feed is published, so it is much more hard for us to delete their message). In the particular case of this last spammer, I am afraid that he created replies with no suspicious text, and then he modified the posts with spam text: In this way the automatic notification emails cannot alert the subribers to the threads about the spamming intentions. I think it is the only reason that can explain the presence of this posts in threads in which some of  the subscribers are also moderators..

I wrote this idea elsewhere, but perhaps this thread is the right place:

Today I registered an account in another vBulletin forum and I discovered that they denies to post messages with links in case you are a new user... it could help to decrease the spam in Astaro forums...

PS: this mod have at least one bug: it does not accept also internal urls, it means that also smiles are forbidden for beginners. But it should be easy to change its behaviour modifing source code...
