Sophos email filtering

On Sophos firewall is there a way to configure it in such a way that  names of people who are on email database are listed on the firewall such that any mail which has an email address which is not on the list does not pass the firewall.

This we would like it to prevent mails of people who are not on the mailing database not to reach the mail server as this is causing many problems.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Sophos Community!

The firewall does not maintain list of Email database.

Deploying the Sophos firewall with the MTA mode and enabling the recipient validation should help:

  • Hello,

in MTA mode (as already suggested by ) you have two options to verify valid email recipients before accepting them

either "with Callout", which asks your mailserver, if this recipient address is really existing within your Mailserver's domain(s)

    OR:

"in Active Directory", which asks the servers defined under "Authentification" for access to your internal ADS and does an LDAP query for each incoming mail to decide further.

Mit freundlichem Gruß, best regards from Germany,
