How to upgrade Cyberoam CR100ing to SFOS XG home edition in 2023?

hi
I have a Cyberoam CR100ing firewall (1.6.3 MR-4) in my hands that I got from my previous job and I plan to install the new Sophos XG home edition OS on it since it is the most compatible with the hardware today. What happens is that the Cyberoam cr100ing ended its life cycle years ago, so apparently it is impossible to update its firmware with the official Cyberoam website, which does not exist today. There is another method that I found, which is to update it via USB with a cable. console using Putty, I have found a tutorial to do it by that means where it starts via serial cable and with a speed of 38400 but even so the OS remains halfway loaded to load the image in rufus to the USB with DD image type .

What other solution can I give to update Cyberoam and have my own homemade firewall?

  • Hi,

have you disabled all the settings in the DOS tab?

Also you might have hit th limit of the CPU, please check the diagnostic settings to see LOAD and CPU usage when trying your download test.

Extra info ; I checked the specifications of the cr100 and the maximum throughput appears to be 750mb/s in a test situation, in reality with other features in the mix what you are seeing in your current test is probably the maximum you will get with more functions enabled.
