Due to some frustrations I've had recently with Sophos Connect (Mainly non technical Users deleting credentials / VPN configurations and other things that users do) i decided to dig into the program to see if i could find any quick hacks to modify it and I found the perfect way to make simple customisations to the GUI and remove menu options.
Sophos Connect used an HTML template to create it's GUI and this seems to be rendered every time the application is started
For windows Clients if you navigate in file explorer to C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Connect\GUI you will see an HTML file called connections.html - if you copy this to the desktop/documents you will then be able to edit in notepad++/sublime text or your choice of text editor - and by simply commenting out certain elements you can strip it back to the bare basics.
So within the menu at the top I removed events, and in the top right menu i removed all options apart from Quit) along with the ability for users to clear credentials, delete, rename and import configurations) - and as i deploy the config via RMM or GPO non technical users never need to access these settings and the curious users are less able to mess things up.
