Combination regarding USB->LAN Adapter.

Hello Fellas.

Im considering to change my Home Sophos Device to a stronger machine. So ive got used laptop which has only one ethernet port. I was thinking to add another via USB.

I've found  StarTech USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter (USB31000S) which supports:  IEEE 802.1q, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3az, IEEE 802.3ab, IEEE 802.3i. The question is, is this gonna work? If sophos reconized that USB adapter, If Vlans will work etc. Does someone of you have made such combination ?:)

Ive also found: https://ideas.sophos.com/forums/17359-utm-formerly-asg-feature-requests/suggestions/3752786-networking-usb-3-0-network-adapter-support

thx for help ;)

  • Hi,

    update.

    I have been using a TP-Link UE300 for testing.

    I tried with v17.5.9, V17.5.10 and V18.0.0 SR-2 and all failed to identify the USB device. Multiple restarts were tried.

    Now somewhere around my home I have another USB-NIC but not sure where because none of my current devices require this type of connection.

    So at this stage I would declare a failure.
