Upgrade to Sophos Enterprise console 5.5

Hi Guys,

I am trying to upgrade my end-point enterprise from version 5.2 to 5.5. In the process, I keep stumbling to an error message "Encryption is installed, please migrate any computers and uninstall before continuing". At this point, am preventing from proceeding with the upgrade.  At present we are not subscribed to the encryption component of the application, although back then we use to have the encryption component but subsequently we decided that it wont be needed and all systems(8 of them which are no longer on my network) that use to be encrypted were also removed of the encryption component. Please I need help

Regards,

  • Hello Jude Fegbada,

    there's another thread from today with basically the same question. The relevant article is How to remove Encryption, please note that in your case it has to be the installer for the SEC 5.2 version (IIRC the directory is \sec_520\).

  • Hi Christian,

    I appreciate your response with regards to the subject matter. However, I tried the steps presented in the link but received error message - see below;

    C:\sec_522>x86: msiexec /i Server64.msi REMOVE=Encryption
    'x86:' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

    C:\sec_522>x64: msiexec /i Server64.msi REMOVE=Encryption
    'x64:' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

    Please asist further.

    Thanks

  • Do not use x86:  or x64: at the start of your commands.  Start them with msiexec and see how that works.
