1. Can you please confirm which Sophos product you are using?
2. At which point did you get this error? Is this a new installation, or was there a recent update?
3. Is there any 3rd party security software installed on your machine?

As Gladys mentioned there is likely a 3'd party antivirus on the device. You can find more information on what was detected by checking the "avremove.log" located in C:\Windows\Temp\ or %temp%\.

In some cases, if you have already uninstalled the third party product, but the installation continues to fail with this error, this can be due to some registry keys or artifacts being left behind. If this is the case, the logs will allow you to see what was found.

One of my companies user device is facing the same issue, we had installed SOPHOS ENDPOINT AGENT a long back and we have the 3rd party antivirus even before installation sophos and it was working fine from very long. Can anyone please help me. below you can find the error details:

The CRT tool may have been updated to detect the competitor's product. You’ll need to remove the 3'd party antivirus for Sophos to install successfully.
