Bandwith Issues Chrome/Firefox/Edge

We have been using Sophos intercept x advanced with MTR for about 6 weeks. Since then, our bandwidth has dropped 90%. We use a gigabit internet connection and have previously achieved the following values in a speed test in the browser: Down: 900MB/s Up: 800MB/s

Now, if we're lucky, we'll get Down: 60MB/s Up: 300MB/s.

We found out that it is due to the following settings:
If these settings are deactivated, we have full bandwidth when surfing again. But we don't want to leave them disabled. This is not a condition, the support from Sophos is not getting anywhere either. We expected more...

here are the screenshots from the speedtest:

  • Have a case open with support with regards to this.

I am on a 1Gbps connection and with NTP enabled i get around 98Mbps down, with NTP disabled i get 812Mbps

Upload seems unimpacted (as im only on a 50Mbps upload plan)

    NTP on:

    NTP Off:

Speed test through CLI does not seem to be impacted by this.

  • Hi sburd,

we have exacly the same problem at one of our customers installation.

Did you get an answer from the support?

    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • Hi Sebastian,

I did receive a reply and this is an issue they are aware of and are investigating.

I was sent an updated sntp.sys file and a couple of updated component .exe files to test, along with a registry change which needed to be applied. Unfortunately this didnt seem to make any difference, so I am currently awaiting another response.
