Scan Stuck

Hi,

I've installed Sophos for Mac this morning and have had a couple of problems...

1st... selected scan local drives and it spent ages just showing calculating. Eventually used force quit.

2nd... it started scanning but appears to be stuck with 2,550,801 files remaining, and i can't restart it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Stephen.

  • This is a really old thread - years old.  The links quoted and products installed have all moved on.

I suggest starting a new thread rather that tack on new information to this one.  To help (before posting again):

    1. Ensure your OS X is up to date.
    2. Ensure you have version 9 of SAV for Mac installed, and it's up to date.
    3. Reboot your Mac.
    4. If you're having problems with scans, start by unplugging (fully removing) external drives (USB, firewire, network, etc) and ensuring Time Machine volumes are disconnected.
    5. Check the main drive with 'Disk Utility' to ensure it's OK.
    6. Have a tidy-up of your files - empty the trash, delete old downloads etc.
    7. Empty your browser's cache.
Note: Points 6 and 7 are just to help reduce the scanning time by not scanning old stuff that's not required.
