Can't delete File

Hi

New to this forum and trying to delete a malware file that the scan couldn't remove and it has to be manually deleted.  The file and path is

/Volumes/BOOTCAMP/Users/Mike Fran/Downloads/SoftonicDownloader_for_webroot-internet-security-essentials.exe

I can see the file using Finder, but I CAN'T see it using Terminal and therefore can't delete is thru Terminal.

Please advise how one can remove this maiware file.

Using Mac Version 10.10.2

Thanks

Mike

From the path I can tell you have a Windows partition on the Mac and dual-boot Mac OS X and Windows.  Correct?  I think this is one of those occasions where Sophos is able to read the file structure and report a threat but cannot get full access to remove it.

Cleanup will be a problem as you're attempting to go from the booted Mac environment across into the Window OS.  Through not booted the Windows partition will be a complex structure and hence difficult to delete from.  The file is a Windows binary (.exe) so cannot harm your Mac - that's important to note.

My advice would be to reboot the Mac into the Windows OS and delete the file from the user's Downloads folder shown in the path.
