What does it mean when the system.log files up with messages of the form:

I'm seeing the same error on numberous machines, with it flooding the logs, thousands of entries.
One generated this crash:

But it is a moot point now because I rebooted.
I just signed up to say that I am also experiencing this problem. There's thousands of enteries in my console, and it has actually, on several occasions, put my computer to sleep and made it momentarily unresponsive. I've been using Sophos since 2009 on several other Macs and OS versions, but this one on Yosemite seems to be causing a lot of problems.

Ok, I managed to round up some details on this.
It's actually believed to be an artifact left over from one of the APIs we'll be replacing in a future version of SAV.
The good news is that it shouldn't put your Mac at risk. If you experience a crash of the web service (as mentioned by Robr) there will be a very breif window during which content won't be scanned, but in most cases malware needs to be written to disk, so the on-access scanner will come into play and the crashed web daemon will automatically recover.
- That's not good. Do you find that your Mac is always slow now, or is it intermittantly? Have you noticed any correlation to other activities?
