The message is 'Must be removed manually." Okay, how do I remove this ...

How do I remove this 'SpiGot' (Other) detected in /Volumes/Download Installer/Download.com Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Download.com Installer? I get the message that it has to be manually removed. Okay. How? All I find using EasyFind is the /Volumes/Download ... Installer with about 280 files in it.

  • PS I also have a com.spigot.searchprotection.list that shows up in a backup (Time Machine) in a library folder ...
  • Hey Tuckerdog,

Can you take a look at the following KB and let me know if you're still having trouble?

    community.sophos.com/.../118117

    Thanks,
    Serra
  • I know all these. The closest was at the bottom "Volumes/Bootcamp." I have gone into Time Machine and manually removed something before. The problem is I don't know what file Sophos is referring to, other than SPIGOT. When responding rather than just sending a link to a file with information that is about a lot of things and and and ... it's nice to actually refer in that link where the answer might be. It's one of those great pet peeves on the internet. Like when you get an email about an awesome item on an awesome shopping site and it's awesome and you click on the specific thing and it takes you to Amazon.com.
  • Hey Tuckerdog,

My apologies, I read your original post wrong. I was under the impression you had the full path to the file.

Usually I recommend checking the scan log to get the full details on the file in question.

    --To Access the Scan Log--
    - Click the Sophos menu bar Icon
    - Click on Open Scans...
    - Alt-click the white space by "Scan this mac" and select View Scan Log...

Hopefully that will give you the full details on the file you're trying to remove.
