ininstall the linux free anti-virus

Question

the manual says to use this to uninstall: 
 /opt/sophos-av/uninstall.sh 
 however, when I try, I get a "permission denied" error. 
 
 what, please, do I need to do to free this up for uninstallation?

 I am not an expert in the Linux but su -root should work to log into the root of the machine.

You need to run the uninstaller as root. 
 
 sudo /opt/sophos-av/uninstall.sh 
 
 should be sufficient.

 Would you please suggest whether you have logged in as root user to uninstall it as the error mentioned above is related to permission. 
 Please make sure that you're trying to uninstall it with the user having proper permission.
