  • Are you using XG Home or SG Home or Sophos Central?

Anyway which ever one, and with any game (well mostly) figure out what service the players are using to play it, i.e. play station network, Xbox live, steam (PC).

Then scour the internet for their servers IP addresses, google works.  Then add then to web control, basically no online games will work.

However it would be nice to know more of the situation because there are other ways to do this, for example if it is a computer you may be able to block the application, if this is Xbox or play station there are parental controls you can set.

  • Also the question is simple, the answer not so much, not trying to be rude but details will help us help you.

  • Ha! No, I should have expected that... Was at work and did not have enough time to detail.

So there are a bunch of kids going nuts with fortnite and some other apps like twitch and youtube. I want to block them entirely. Ideally during specific times.

They are all PC based, no consoles.

Fortnite in particular is very difficult to block via IP or port. They use AWS and don't have anything static.

My current setup is a unifi usg. Not much capability there.

I'm looking at several Sophos solutions, ideally XG home, so my starting point is on the ground floor.

I don't want to block anything at the device level as I have kids coming and going throughout the week and as I do not own their equipment I cannot touch it.

I don't want to use anything like opendns as I want to have certain users still be able to access youtube and some other sites that may be blocked for some.

  • XG is capable of alot I am running at home, I would start there.  Get the config going, thats a good start.  I did a quick google search, there are ways to do it, but you would need XG setup first.
