How to configure a configuration port

I have just placed my Sophos XG Firewall Home Edition on line. I had it configured with three ports:

Port 2 WAN     DHCP client

Port 1 LAN      Static 192.168.1.1 with DHCP server. I had disabled administration on this port

Port 3 Config   Static 192.168.1.100 This was configured as a LAN, however only the administration functions were enabled.

When I set the firewall up I was unable to send/receive any traffic on Port 1. Administration worked on Port 3. I ended up having to delete Port 3 and move administrative functions to Port 1. Does any one know how I can configure a pure administrative port without killing the NAT function of the firewall?

  • Hi Donald ,

It does not seem necessary to configure a Administration port , as you may use 198.168.1.1 . If you still needed another port then you may create a Zone  or use DMZ as the administration access is used and defined as per Zone not Port . E.g. LAN, DMZ , WAN or Custom Zone.

Let us know if that is what you wanted.
