0 Unencrypted Hard Drives, 0 Encrypted Hard Drives

After deploying to a Windows 7 SP1 client, the machine shows up in Management Center, but there are no hard drives listed in it's details.  The client was deployed with BitLocker as the encryption engine.

Could it be that the hard drive is not supported?  It is a 500GB SeaGate hard drive, not an SSD.

  • Hi DylanJacob. Thank you for the information about the HDD as reported in the SafeGuard management console. You will need to remove the SafeGuard software from the machine. Make sure you remove it in this order. SafeGuard client configuration first, then the SafeGuard Client and finally the SafeGuard pre-install. You will then need to remove the computer from the SafeGuard management console. Re-sync your SafeGuard management console with your AD. Reinstall the SafeGuard software. SafeGuard Pre-install first, then SafeGuard Client next and finally the SafeGuard client configuration. Make sure the computer syncs properly with the SafeGuard management console.

  • I tried doing the uninstallation and reinstalling as you suggested, however, that still did not solve the problem.

As the following article suggests, I ran the bdehdcfg.exe tool after uninstalling SafeGuard in order to prepare the hard drive for encryption using BitLocker, and after reinstalling and allowing the policy to be received by the client, BitLocker began it's work encrypting the drive as it should have.
