Migration of SGN Server from 32bit server to 64bit server

Is there any documentation for migrating SGN from a 32bit server to a 64bit server?

I have a SGN 6.00.1 server installation on a 32bit Windows 2008 server with SQLExpress 2008 on it and would like to migrate the settings etc to a

64bit server.  My end goal is to get the SGN server on the 64bit server up to the latest release 7.x.

Many thanks,

Jim R

  • Hi JimRhodes. Here is a link to the SafeGuard Enterprise 7 documentation.

Start by backing up your current SafeGuard database. Backup the MSO certificate as well. Create your new 64 bit SQL server and import the database into it. There are upgrade scripts included in the SafeGuard 7 program you will download. Run that script against the database. It will prepare the database for use by SafeGuard 7. Make sure you choose the correct script for your situation. Setup the SafeGuard Server and Management Center on your new 64 bit server. During the setup you will be offered the option to create a new database or use an existing one. Point it towards your upgraded SafeGuard database. You will have to make sure that the new server has the correct DNS settings so the clients can still communicate with the server, if not you will have to create new client configuration files and apply it to each client or modify your internal DNS settings to point the old hostname to the IP of the new 64 bit server.
