How to manage the user's white/blacklist?

If a user configures his/her own black or whitelist in the web quarantine access, how can an admin see and manage it?

In other words, how do I keep an eye in the users behavior regarding their spam filtering?

Thanks!

  • Hello Marcos,

It is not possible to see the blacklist/whitelist made in web quarantine from the admin UI, however, the blacklist/whitelist made in admin UI have priority over the one made under web quarantine.

Messages are processed in the following order:
    1. Allowed hosts/senders (Global)
    2. Blocked hosts/senders (Global)
    3. Allowed senders (per-user)
    4. Blocked senders (per-user)
This ensures that Global settings always take precedence over end-user settings.

  • Thanks, Aiman!

In that case, if an admin wants to create white/blacklists for specific users, he/her needs to create additional policies then, right? (I think it will easily make the policy rules really cumbersome)

Sounds like a feature request: Let the admin configure user specific rules inside their own web portal. :)

  • Hello Marcos,

Yes, you are right. Additional policies will help but making separate policy for every user will be tedious.

As requested, i will raise a feature request to manage user specific rules from admin UI.

Note: hosts/senders under allowed list only bypass the anti-spam filter, other filters are applied if applicable.

Refer below link for policy message workflow, it will be helpful in understanding how policies are applied in Sophos email appliance.
