Puremessage on Exchange 2010, external recipients not getting mail

Recently installed puremessage on exchange 2010, server 2008 r2.

Since the install, internal users sending mail which contain internal and external recipients, internal users receive the message, external users do not.

Get the following message in exchange logs.

2012-01-09T19:05:52.835Z,,SERVERNAME-,,,PmE12Transport,,AGENT,FAIL,925,,recipient@externaldomain.com,,0,1,,,,,user@internaldomain.com,,Originating,,,,

Sophos logs also log the incident but says "delivered" which is not true.

1/10/2012 7:32:09    Multiple policies (2) apply
to message '<xxxxx.JavaMail.rim@b15.c13.xxxx>'

1/10/2012 7:32:09    Delivered message '<xxxx.JavaMail.rim@b15.c13.xxxx>'
to recipients 'user@internaldomain.com'

  • Hello,

By that log entry, it appears that the transport agent is having a bad handoff from Puremessage to the external send connector.

If you haven't already contacted Sophos Support about this error, I'd recommend doing so now. An inspection of your Exchange configuration looks to be order here, specifically how the transport agents are being referenced, though checking the Puremessage setup would be helpful.

  • Thanks Gary, I have a case opened that is now a few days old....perhaps you can add your notes to the case and get it moving along a little?
