Hotspots with non-sophos AP

Hi all,

Its possible use non-sophos APs with the management of the Hotspots of the Wireless Protection ?

I ask because I already have and wifi network and I cannot change my APs because they are vere newer.

But I want enable the Hotspots managed by UTM.

I connected my my actual wifi network in the utm eth06 and I already create the interface for this, then I enable the Wireless Protection, put this interface in the Global Settings and in the Hotspots I put this interface in the interfaces box..

I already allow the access of this interface in the web protection and in the network protecion like my others networks but its not works.

Any ideas why not work ?

    Hi,

    Check the following:
    [LIST=1]
    • Your non-sophos-AP's are connected to an ethernet port like eth6
    • Check the interface! Type: Ethernet Static, Hardware: eth6, IP: e.g. 192.168.100.1. NOT default Gateway! It is usefull to assign a name this this interface, e.h. Hotspot-Net
    • Create a DHCP for this network! Interface: Hotspot-Net, Range: 192.168.100.100-199, DNS and Gateway maybe the UTM (e.g. 192.168.100.1)
    • If you use the UTM for DNS: Allow the Network under DNS!
    • Check and creathe firewall-rules, e.g. Allow Hotspot-Net -> Websurfing -> Internet
    • Masquerade your network! Create a masquerading rule at NetworkProtection -> NAT -> Masquerading. Add Network "Hotspot-Net" for use with Interface of your WAN (e.g. External) and use maybe the primary address (for PPPoE).
    • Create a Hotspot! Enable the service, add a Hotspot! Here add the Interface "Hotspot-Net" and select for testing the type "terms of use acceptance"

    Working fine at home. Not sure about using this configuration for bigger installations...
