**Can be moved to wireless board, sorry.. created on wrong board.**
I suppose I am a bit confused in how the Sophos user guide makes reference to "mesh networks".
This first description matches what I would think it was... "In general, in a mesh network multiple access points communicate with each other and broadcast a common wireless network."
Now, my interpretation of this is when you have a building that spans a large area, you want to have a single SSID. As users walk around in the building, they are connected to any one of the APs, essentially performing hand-off.
My confusion is further in the documentation where they mention bridge or repeater as the two use cases for a mesh network. Bridge/repeating is more when you don't have the cable to connect areas, so you jump data over two wireless devices to extend coverage.
For my purpose, a large building, which has APs deployed every 200-300ft, all wired, would I need to use the Sophos mesh network setup? By default, do a bunch of APs broadcasting the same SSID perform basic handoff of users between devices as they wander around the building?
Thanks!
Jim
