AP50 LED Disable

Any way to do this in 9.1+ firmware?

  • No there is no way. Why not simply put some insulation sticky tape over the LEDs? Trivial problems demand trivial solutions ;-)
  • Yep, use the American solution, Duct-Tape [:)]

Just curious, why are you worried about a little light?

  • Also, optionally (and I do not recommend this, but I've seen it done in similar situations, not with APs, but other electronics with lights that someone found offensive in some way)... you could open the casing and de-solder or cut the leads to the LED(s) in question... but that would DEFINITELY void the warranty, and I'm not saying in any way that this wouldn't cause other damage or issues.  Attempt at your own risk.

  • FYI, there are 2 feature requests for this in UTM (Formerly ASG) Feature Requests: Hot (1298 ideas)
    http://feature.astaro.com/forums/17359-utm-formerly-asg-feature-requests?query=led

One requester prefers a more 'stealthy' appearance, the other says hotel guests complain about the bright lights.

I have my AP30 just outside my bedroom, on the hall ceiling, and it would definitely be very annoying if it were in line-of-sight to my bed.

Duct tape is too sticky for something like this; the residue would be very hard to remove.
White electrical tape should be a good choice.

  • Well from firmware-side I know it's possible because our first hardware prototypes had non-working LEDs and we had to code that first ;-). But I don't know if that'll be implemented as an option.
