AP Behind A Router

I didn't see this in another post but forgive me if its a dup.

I would like to use an AP that is on a network that is connected to the "inside" network via a router. The network behind the router, has its own dhcp server.

Forgive the ascii art:

How does the AP30 find the ASG/UTM to retrieve its configuration?

  • The Cisco must route 1.2.3.4 to the UTM.

Was that what you were missing?

  • Bob - hey man, thanks for the response. This isn't a question of routing, the network is working just fine. Sorry for not being more clear. When I plug in the AP on network2, it is going to get its IP, subnet, gateway, dns, from the dhcp server. But I don't know how the AP figures out where to find the ASG on network1 for its configuration.  That's the bit of magic I'm asking about.
  • That's the reason for routing 1.2.3.4 to the ASG. [:)]

  • OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok the mechanism is now clear. I thought your 1.2.3.4 was "fill in your network here"! LOL

So the AP looks for its config from IP 1.2.3.4

    Thanks Bob!
