APs and ASG...

Sophos UTM 9.003-15/16 Up2Date Information

News:
Wifi: Removed general limit of 8 SSIDs per AP (now device dependent)
Wifi: Increased maximum number of AP's from 100 to 223

So I use 5 AP30 with ASG120? [:S]

  • In 9.004 there are no "hard" limits on the number of SSIDs or APs used... however, you are limited by your hardware capacity, and how you deploy them does matter; bridging to VLANs is a preferred configuration, as less processing is needed at the UTM to authenticate / manage traffic this way; using Separate Zone to "tunnel" wireless traffic back to the UTM does necessarily use more resources... and, of course, as another poster mentioned, the amount of traffic you are passing over these various SSIDs and APs will have an effect on how many your particular UTM can handle.
