Latency and ping drops observed when using 2 x AP30

Hi All,

I was reading the wireless security section of the forums to find out if anyone has the similar problems I am facing. I just recently deployed two AP30 in a stadium recently. The wireless AP were to be used by the media users.

Then a few days later we had a match and during my observation, I see 18 users connected to the access point.

Here is how I configured it.
1. 2 x APs configured with Separate Zone (172.14.70.0/24 where 172.14.70.1 was the wlan interface).
2. AP1 was set at Channel 1 and AP2 was set a Channel 6 to avoid overlapping.

During the match, I did a continuous ping to 172.14.70.1 and I get quite a number of ping drops and high latency (as high as 1002ms and more) as shown in the attached picture.

I understand from Astaro that the AP30 can handle up to 30 users and possibly more. I also have another client where it exceeded 30 and users begin to have issues not able to connect to the desired wireless SSID.

I'm not sure if I have done anything wrong or if I may have missed anything but under a single user test, latency was definitely very low.

Does anyone have this similar issue?

    Hi Helmut,

    Wow, thanks. This is quite an insight. Thanks for the heads up. So the rule of thumb is:
    1. Place APs no lesser than 2 meters apart.
    2. Put channels at 1, 6 and 11 to be non-overlapping but obeying rule (1).

    Hi there,

    I'm experiencing the same issue with 3 AP30s and ASG 120's running 8.202. Horrible latency and dropped pings experienced on all devices (mix of MacBook Pros, Windows for testing, variety of smartphones.) This essentially makes the new wireless infrastructure we invested in unusable for all but light email and web surfing.

    Astaro has taken a look and we've tried updating to 8.203, reduced the load to
