Wireless Subscription Recommendation

Currently the Wireless Subscription for an ASG120 is $380 per year.  If I was managing 15 to 30 Access Points I could see that being worth it, however the ASG120/110 is geared towards smaller businesses.  And those smaller business may only have the need for 1 or maybe 2 Access Points.  Selling the ASG120 is easy with all of the features, however the Wireless Subscription is near impossible.

Telling a client that their single Wireless Access Point is going to cost them $275 and that the Subscription is going to cost $380 and every year will cost them $361, causes them to look at me like I'm smoking crack. And I can see their point.  In five years that access point has cost them $2,099.00.  That is one expensive Access Point and it doesn't stop there.

I would recommend that Astaro take good look at the Wireless Subscription and maybe offer a per Access Point Subscription up until X amount of Access Points.

  • There aren't any such specials at this point in time.  For the organization without Full Guard that needs just one access point with a single SSID and wants to keep the traffic separated from the internal network, the cheapest/easiest thing is to run the AP off a different ASG interface.

  • Full Guard is the way to go if you already have 2 or more subscriptions (well, depends on which one)... in most cases my customers can get all the features with Full Guard for very little in addition to what they used to pay for 2 separate subscriptions... if you had 3, it's a no-brainer.
