How to check if an AP is alive or not - tcp request?

Hello,
I have just bought some ap10. We usually check the dead/alive status of all networks units with Advanced Host Monitor, that pings (or ask for tcp connection) them. I noticed that AP10 units are not ping visible. Which port can I use for a test tcp connection?

I noticed that AP10 units are not ping visible.

Don't know why, but now they are ping visible - boh!

Yeah, pings should be answered by the APs.
