Electronic Arts - Origin Downloading

Hello,

This is a followup to an old thread: Origin Download Fix

The URLs in that thread don't seem like they need exceptions anymore from my testing. There are some new URLs that need to be unblocked in order to download games from EA Origin. I also went through each exception and the only exception required is Antivirus. If I remember correctly, EA moved their game files off of cdn.ea.com and on to akamai which is why the URLs in the old thread are no longer necessary. Hope this helps someone.

Here are my exception urls:

^origin-[A-Za-z]\.akamaihd\.net/
^eaassets([0-9])*-[A-Za-z]\.akamaihd\.net/

They match the following URLs:

http://origin-a.akamaihd.net
eaassets01-a.akamaihd.net
eaassets-a.akamaihd.net

  • I wanted to add something to the conversation that I feel could be relevant for some. My client would crash constantly when starting it up. I found that the Web Ads Filtering Category (or at least a subset of them) was the culprit. The quick fix was to simply remove the Web Ads from the Suspicious Category. I'll probably go back and pick out the 10-15 or so domains that it was failing on that would cause the Origin client to crash.

  • Hello Travis,

I checked my setup and I too have the Web Ads category set to "Allow" in my web filtering profile. I have had this set for quite some time so I didn't think about it.
