Problems with a specific website

Good morning,

i have a problem with opening a specific website.

Opening http://www.n-tv.de takes long time and sometimes its getting a timeout. However, opening the site from a different network does work well so i think its somehow related to the firewall.

Unfortunately, the webfilter log does not show any unusual things when i open the site. Just sometimes the timeout but nothing what leads me to a solution.

Although, i tried to bypass the proxy but that didn`t helped either.

So, where can i look why that dumb site doesn`t work properly?

Greetings

Revan

  • Revan, if the Web Filtering log doesn't help, what about the others listed in #1 in community.sophos.com/.../22065 ?

  • If bypassing the UTM doesn't help, that suggests the problem lies elsewhere.

The site does seem to pull content from a wide range of different sites/providers/domains. To narrow down the problem try using in-browser tools like Firefox's Web Console, or Chrome's developer tools to monitor all the different HTTP transactions made to load the whole page and see if there are specific requests that seem to be taking much longer than others. It could be that while n-tv.de is working OK, one of the other domains it pulls from is causing delay and slowing down the overall page load. The 'Network' tabs in both browsers' consoles show a timeline graph that helps indicate the sequence of HTTP requests, which requests are triggered by which other components and so can help identify where visbile delays may be happening.
