web filter not being applied

The web filter is simply not working I could set it to transparent mode and to use the default policy. It is green, enabled. I am also able to use the UTM built-in tool to test filteirng on banned sites, and everything is being handled correctly according to the test tool. But from my browser, nothing is being filtered.

I had the filtering working earlier and I like how it would block pop up adds from presenting themselves etc... so it proves to be a useful feature, but for some reason it is not working despite the green checkbox indicating that it is enabled.

I tried rebooting the UTM

I tried disabling it and reenabling it

I tried changing the authentication mode and various other settings but I am not able to get it to perform its function

Let me know what I should try next.

  • Things to check:

    -Web Filtering:
    - Your internal network is showing in the 'Allowed Networks' window.
    - Policies Tab: This should also have toggles set to show green for the Base Policy and Content Filtering.

    -Web Filtering Profiles:
    - Default Web Filter Profile is also showing green.

    -Filtering Options:
    - Do you have any rules in here and if so, are they enabled? (Green toggle)
    - Do you have any bypassing going on?
    - Web filtering port at 8080?

Did you check the logs? BAlfson always preaches log checking! :) It can tell a lot.
