Transparant Firefox authentication

When using transparant web filtering with Firefox we get the regular expected Sophos authentication pop-up. I know it can fixed by adding the Sophos url to the ntlm-auth.trusted-uris setting. But This KB mentions adding the FQDN, while the auth request we receive always originates from
http://sophos

instead of the FQDN
sophos.intranet.company.com

Is there any reason for this?
Management >> System settings >> Hostname contains the FQDN, so where does the browser get the non-FQDN hostname from? Some other setting I'm overlooking?
