No internet Access

Has anyone else experienced an issue where the network status icon at the bottom right task bar has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark over it and says "no internet access" even though there is internet access (See attached screenshot). 

I have not really bothered about this until we upgraded to Microsoft Office 2013 and experienced the following issues:
1. When launching any Office 2013 program we get a proxy pop up thrice
2. Unable to access "Pictures Online" (clipart)

The firewall and web filtering live logs show no traffic from my test PC when replicating the issue. 

If I add the test PC to the "Skip Transparent Mode Source Hosts/Nets" the then the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark disappears and Office Online works.

    Off the top of my head it sounds like you are using transparent mode with AD SSO, and that the Office is having trouble authenticating.

    Note that there is nothing in the log when there is failed authentication.

    If you turn off authentication does that also make the problems go away?
    If so, you might be able to look at to logs during those times to find out what sites it is visiting or user agent it is using.  Then you can create an exception to skip authentication for that.

    Alternately use wireshark to look at the traffic while authentication is on.  That can confirm it is an auth problem and where it is trying to go.
