Weird issues with AD SSO and transparent proxy

First I will have machines that will occasionally fail to connect when trying to authenticate. 


    They are using IE10 and get "Make sure the web address http://sophos is correct. "sophos/auth


    sophos is in the DNS as well as sophos.domain.local and resolve correctly on the problem machine.


    After a few minutes the problem will magically resolve itself.


Has anyone experienced this issue and come up with a solution?

Second, along similar lines why does sophos not use the FQDN as specified in the webadmin hostname configuration?

    I've not heard of this before.  What do you see related to this in the Web Filtering log?

    How does your configuration compare to DNS Best Practice?

    Did you follow The Zeroeth Rule?

    I had similar DNS issues, but it was not with sophos, but with my whole AD.  My problem was because my AD started with Server 2003 and adding servers up to 2012... Problem was NOW in with newer AD the DNS Zone _msdcs.domain.com has to be on Root of the Forward lookup Zone outside of the domain.com zone.  And AD server upgrade doesn't fix that by it self. It was causing weird intermittent hit and miss

    I'm thinking more it's because of your DNS server.
