Blocking URI's with IP addresses instead of hostnames

Had a crummy sneak through early today riding an ad. The URI was a bare IP address and the payload was passed on by both AV engines. I don't seem to be holding my mouth right when I try to find the means to block IP's in URI's. Is this an easy thing and I missed it?

  • I think this would be possible by using web filtering with a regular expression that filters out ip-addresses.
Not sure tough if it's a good thing to simply block all ip addresses.
