Typos in Web Filtering log application field

There are tons of typos in the values set for the "application" field in Sophos UTM 9.7 Web Filtering logs. Some examples are:

application="micrsoft"
application="googapis"
application="googplay"
application="googdocs"
application="netflx"
application="amazonws" # ok I know not technically a typo, but literally no one refers to it like this. It's always "aws".
application="instagrm"
application="wrdpress"
application="optimzly"
application="pinterst"

I cross-referenced these values and the application codes that appear in the log with the CSV list in /etc/afc/applications, and the values in the CSV are correct. Anyone have any idea how some of these values are missing letters? What could possibly be modifying the values between the lookup from the CSV file and when they are being written to the log file.

  • Hi William and welcome to the UTM Community!

    Apparently, there's a limit to 8 characters somewhere.  Although, "netflx" does seem unusual.
