I'm running into an issue where my HTML 5 connection becomes non responsive when I copy and paste from my Mac to the Windows PC i'm remoted into.

I am using Use CMD+C on the Mac and then CTRL+V  on my mac which is remote connected to my desktop via VPN. It brings up the start menu box and I cannot do anything further in the remote connection until I log out and back in again. I need to be able to copy and paste within the remote environment. anything that would help would be appreciated.

  • Hi up there in the cold, cruel north and welcome to the UTM Community!

I'm not a Mac guy, so maybe someone else can comment on doing things differently in the Mac.

Folks here need a little more information to be able to help you.  Are you VPNing directly from your Mac to your PC or are you connecting to a VPN on the UTM?  If so, which Remote Access method are you using?

If this is a question about the HTML5 VPN Portal, you might want to consider using a different VPN and then using RDP to connect to your Windows PC.  I'm not a fan of using the HTML5 VPN to copy files as it is very resource-intensive (read "slow").

PS If this is about a UTM VPN, one of us moderators will move this thread to the VPN forum.

  • It's an HTML5 VPN portal. Users use a browser to access a webpage that Sophos creates for them to login to and then through the browser they are able to connect to a specific designated computer for that user. She's just trying to copy a file from her windows pc to another field in her windows pc. We don't generally support macs and she's on a mac remoting to a windows PC so i'm not really sure what the series of commands is. She's tried a mix of control+C/V and command+C/V but isn't getting the expected results.

  • Again, this is not what the HTML5 Portal was designed for.  I only recommend it for occasional use by an external consultant that manages something inside your network.

I would ask the administrator of your UTM to configure SSL VPN Remote Access.  Your user will then download the OpenVPN client for Mac and connect to the UTM using that.  She will then be able to RDP directly into PC instead of going via the UTM's User Portal and the HTML5 option.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Thanks I'll run that by him. Our Mac user is getting by once we suggested using right click and experimenting with ctrl+c/v and command+c/v.
