Administration, Reporting, Monitoring, Configuration Choices

In the ASG under Management | Central Management when there are a number of check boxes available when setting this up: Administration, Reporting, Monitoring, and Configuration.

What are the differences between these choices?  Whilst the choices may appear obvious it would be useful to see a document explaining this (I haven't found one).

My scenario for a particular client is that I need to monitor the status (up/down problems etc) and I also need to get a backup.  They do not want to allow the ACC access to be able to make any changes to their configuration.

    Hi Bob,

    those checkboxes are not documented explicitly yet but will be in a future
    release.

    A short explanation:

    • Administration: viewing the inventory, creating and restoring
      backups, scheduling actions like firmware updates
    • Reporting: requesting reports from the device
    • Monitoring: without this right the device is invisible in the ACC
    • Configuration: this grants the right to deploy objects (networks,
      hosts, VPNs) to the device


    In your case you would need the Monitoring right and the Administration
    right for backups. But consider, you can then rollout backups from other
    devices to that device and so you are able to change the configuration.
