Install Pattern doesn't work

Hello,

this is not a bug or an error. Depending on your device's configuration not all new patterns will be installed on your machine - e.g. you might not have enabled IPS or there may be documentation available which is not directly required on the device.

Of course, this is a tad confusing ... but there is no need to be alarmed. Also, please note, this issue is not directly related to ACC but depends on the device/Up2Date information, so you should also see the same data/information on the ASG device itself.

OK - now it works...
I had to disable on each ASL the setting "Use an Up2Date Cache".
I only have enabled the "Use configured ACC server as Up2Date Cache" setting.

The only thing i don't understand is, what the setting "Use an Up2Date Cache" does mean...

OK - now it works...
I had to disable on each ASL the setting "Use an Up2Date Cache".
I only have enabled the "Use configured ACC server as Up2Date Cache" setting.

The only thing i don't understand is, what the setting "Use an Up2Date Cache" does mean...

in order to use the ACC as an Up2Date Cache, both checkboxes need to be enabled - otherwise no proxy/cache will be used and the Up2Date Client on the ASG will directly connect to the Up2Date servers. 

The configuration dialog should be refactored as it confuses our customers every time. If you select "Use an Up2Date Cache" you need to either supply a host object in the drop down box or check the box that says "Use configured ACC server as Up2Date Cache". If you use the second check-box, it is just a shortcut to dragging-and-dropping the ACC server object - both actions have the same effect.

Now, the real issue seems that the global pattern version was updated on one device, but not the other one. Did both use the Up2Date Cache in the same fashion or was one of them directly communicating with the Up2Date Servers? I would be interested if there is any kind of glitch when using the Cache and updating the global pattern version.

Now I have the settings you see in attachemnt 1 (only the checkbox "Use configured ACC server as Up2Date Cache" is checked, and the ACC server is specified).
In this case the pattern recently updated.

Before I checked "Use an Up2Date Cache" in addition to the settings i wrote above.
In this case the Up2Date function did not work.

Maybe a corrupt file on the box...?

Hello Roland,

as I said, the cache is only used when ticking the box: "Use an Up2Date Cache" and then doing only one (!) of the following:

- tick the box "Use configured ACC server as ..."
- move a correct ACC server object to the drag-and-drop area

The combination you picked will always circumvent proxy/cache usage. This is confirmed by the debug output from the Up2Date downloader. It does not state that it uses any proxy or ACC cache. Hence, the boxes directly connect to the Up2Date Servers.

Regarding the pattern version difference on the two boxes, we need to take a look here and I will come back to you later.

The ACC has internet access with ports 80/443, but only trough another proxy (not an Astaro device).
On the ACC I configured this other proxy on the "Management --> Up2Date --> Adavanced" tab.

congratulations, you have found a bug.

The ACC Up2Date Cache is currently not able to use another upstream or parent proxy. You could workaround that issue by allowing outbound access to ports 80/443 for your ACC server on the non-Astaro proxy (if this thing can do packet-filtering). You would need to deactivate the usage of the Parent Proxy though, otherwise the Up2Date Cache tries to use the proxy method again and will fail.
