RED10: Cannot boot

Hello Community!

I got a RED10 here and I'm trying to get it working. It is a RED 10, Revision 3 - rather new, about one year old.

Problem is: The device doesn't boot. None of the 4 LEDs on the left side (System, Router, Internet, Tunnel) is lighting up. I already tried the RED/AP Flash Tool, which basically worked so far and the RED then showed a "hovering" light on the 4 LEDs on the left (the Knight-Rider thing...), just like it's supposed to when it is updating its internal flash memory. I did let it sit for about 5 minutes after this phase started and when I returned, only three LEDs were on: Power, LAN1 and WAN. It doesn't acquire an IP via DHCP on the WAN port and doesn't seem to respond to any IP on the LAN ports. When it starts up, the LAN ports respond as they are supposed to on 192.168.99.9 for about 5 seconds. After that, nothing happens. I can restart it, unplug it for a while, but sadly nothing changes.

Apart from the one time (this was before I tried the RED/AP Flash Tool), when the WAN interface actually acquired an IP, downloaded about 4-5 MB from the internet and showed this Knight-Rider thing again: Nothing happens with this device.

Can someone help me or point me in the right direction?

Regards,

Patrick

  • Hi, Patrick, and welcome to the UTM Community!

If the unit is still in warranty, you should get a ticket open with Sophos Support.  I bet they decide to RMA it.
