RED boxes authorisation/de-authorisation emails going to old IT company

My UTM SG115 box has recently got a new admin person/company. All the notification email addresses have been switched to the new person. When a new RED is issued or deauthed, the email is going to the old IT company, where do I get that changed please? Been through all the menus - so I'm thinking it's because they generated the license under their account?

  • Hi, Thomas, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Such a problem has not been reported here as far as I can remember.  Check the 'Global' tab in 'Management >> Notifications'.

  • Hi,

    Yes first place I checked!

Still auth/de-auth RED emails go to old company.

I have changed all notifications everywhere to my address!

    Thanks

  • I believe you will find the old email address in the "Remote Ethernet Device CA" found in Certificate Management. Also, check the 'Organizational' tab in 'Management >> System Settings'.

It may be possible for Sophos Support to change that at the command line, but I wouldn't try it myself on a production device.  Probably, the only thing to do is to disable RED (thus removing the CA) and then enabling it again to create a new CA with the address you want.  All of the RED Connections should come back up within a few minutes after you re-enable RED.

Be sure to copy down all of the RED unlock codes before doing this.  I don't think you will need them, but it never hurts to be ready for a glitch that requires you to delete all of the devices and start over.  Again, this is unlikely.

More drastic would be following The Zeroeth Rule in Rulz instead, but I wouldn't do that unless the UTM's host name is something other than the public FQDN used to reach it.  Note that this approach requires more preparation, and that it's unlikely that a newbie would want to attempt it alone on a production device.

    Cheers - Bob

PS For the new email address, choose one that forwards to one or more people of your choice.  It's easier to change a Distribution Group on your mail server than to have to go through a process like this.  I would recommend something like RED_Admin@mydomain.com here and UTM_Admin@mydomain.com in System Settings.
