RED and IP Address best practices?

Hi All,

Thanks for reading.. I'm new to working with a RED 50 and RED 10 both connected to a UTM9.

Due to the way the different networks were constructed, they are as follows:

UTM (local 192.168.8.4) ->

RED 10  ->  local IP 192.168.9.1
RED 50  -> local IP 10.0.0.253

- The RED 10 (on 9.1) was previously connected, and it was (at one time) able to see and use resources on the remote server (192.168.8.8)

- I connected the RED 50, and it cannot connect or do anything with 192.168.8.8

I'm not clear on how this is supposed to come together. Am I going to need to change the IP configuration of the 10.0.0.x network to fall in line (IE is this stopping it from working?). Where online is a list of settings required to make all of this work in the UTM? Is there a place where Sophos talks about IP address best practices? What is required if a router is between the RED and the Internet?

I generally just want to connect this branch office to the Internet and access resources of one server on the UTM (192.168.8.4)'s network.

Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi, Kevin, and welcome to the UTM Community!

    Please insert pictures for the RED 10 and RED 50 of the Edits of the definition on the 'RED' '[Server] Client Management tab, the definitions on the 'Interfaces' tab and the relevant firewall rules.

    Cheers - Bob
