Hello everybody,
I'm in the process of setting up a RED15 for a customer running a SG125 appliance and firmware 9.350-12.
This customer just installed a new VoiP PBX.
There is one staff member located in a branch office using his own AVM FritzBox router.
We need to connect a hardware IP phone from Bintec to the new PBX, so I thought a RED appliance would do the job.
I deployed the RED15 appliance in Transparent/Split mode, hooked it up to a free ethernet jack, the RED requested an IP address from our DHCP server, I plugged the IP phone into the RED and was able to use the phone and access the remote subnet of our customer.
Just to make sure, I tried the same thing at home. RED also requested an IP address, all 4 LEDs on the front of the RED appliance lit up and the RED was registered as online in the UTM web interface.
I couldn't however connect to the remote subnet of the customer.
My question: Does the RED only function in the subnet is was originally first setup and you have to redo the config everytime you move the RED to a different site?
Or is there anything else wrong on my end?
The RED was setup as follows:
Uplink Mode: DHCP client
Operation mode: Transparent/split
Split DNS server: The Windows 2008 SBS server of the customer
Split networks: Local LAN (192.168.1.0/24) of the customer
Split domains: The local dns domain of the customer
The subnets I tested it from were 172.16.66.0/24 (it worked) and 192.168.100.0/24 (didn't work).
Hope you guys can help me out here!
Thanks,
Dominik
