problem with RED 10

Hi there,

additionally to our working setup with two UTMs 120 and one RED 10, I purchased a used RED 10.

Unfortunately there is only the Power LED on and no other LED like System, Router, etc. is blinking.

So I ended up with having a look at the Sophos KB to recover the system with the AP/RED recovery tool.

But the recovery doesn't work. It seems that the RED doesn't do anything to recover itself.

There is the log:

TELNET: Start searching for RED... device found

TELNET: Connecting to RED... OK
TELNET: 63 bytes read: == Executing boot script in 3.770 seconds - enter ^C to abort

RedBoot>
OK
TELNET: 5 bytes sent: exec

RED Flashing process started. Do not disconnect the device until either it's done, or an error occurs.

Is there any other possibility to recover it or to solve the problem?

Thank you!

  • Apparently, there are different policies there than in North America.  Here, all customers must buy a replacement for a bricked out-of-warranty device.
