RED on same subnet as UTM network?

Hello - I am new to REDs.

Is it is a requirement that the RED interface and remote network be on a different subnet from the UTM network?

I set up a RED 10 for testing.  My UTM network is 10.0.0.x/24  I tried creating the RED interface as 10.0.0.3 in the same subnet but it would not pass any traffic (although it did give a DHCP address to a laptop plugged into the LAN ports on the RED.  When I changed the RED interface to a different subnet 10.0.1.x/24, then everything worked as expected.

  • You can setup the RED to have an IP in the network where it finds itself, but I had a bit of trouble following your description (I'm a visual-tactile).  Maybe you could describe what it is you want to end up with...
