Hi all,
I have currently an ASG 220 in our main office.
In the field offices, we have red's.
the response times through the tunnel are very bad. If I put down a ping through the tunnel I get response times of about 60 ms.
QoS is not activates the REDs and the MTU is set to 1500.
The RED's run in standart / split mode.

The firmware of my ASG is 8.309.
Does anyone have any idea why the response times are so bad, or an idea which logs should I look at myself to find fault?

    One thing to keep in mind is that latency over a RED connection is affected by the latency of the internet connection between the two offices. If that's bad, you'll never get good ping times through a RED. Where I am 80-90ms is typical for RED. That's between DSL at the branch end and Fiber at HQ.

    Best way to measure the link's latency is to ping the UTM 's external IP from the branch. If the latency is within 5ms of the RED connection, I'd say it's the link that's responsible. If however the latency is significantly off, then there's other issues beside your internet link.

    Out of curiosity, what traffic are you running that makes 60ms bad? We've run video conferencing software over our RED's with no issues @ 90ms latency.
