Dear All,
I know there has been a couple of posts here on this issue, (Astaro Red and QoS for example), unfortunately its still not very clear for me.
We would like to implement QoS on RED specifically for VOIP. (We use Swyx here) Details as follows:
HQ Internet Bandwidth: 20MB up and down
Local Office Internet Bandwidth: 2MB up, 1MB down
Under QoS status, we have
Limit uplink - unticked
Download Equalizer - ticked
Upload Optimizer - ticked
Under traffic selector, we have
Local Office -> VOIP ports -> internal_network
Under Bandwidth pools, we have
Rule defined in traffic selector ticked
Specifiy upper bandwidth limit undefined
There seems to jitter on the line still. So for further testing, I used jperf for monitoring network performance between a computer behind HQ ASG and local computer behind RED.
Used default port 5001 from the program and changed this in the traffic selector.
I specified 3 parallel streams and transmitted data between them repeatedly.
From the results, it seems that quite often there is a drop in bandwidth such as:
[SUM] 232.0-234.0 sec 16.0 KBytes 65.5 Kbits/sec
[152] 232.0-233.0 sec 8.00 KBytes 65.5 Kbits/sec
[152] 233.0-234.0 sec 0.00 KBytes 0.00 Kbits/sec
What are we missing on the ASG? Anyone implemented this before or in the same boat? Advice please?
Best,
Eddie
