Hi All,
we are thinking about switching to RED, but after looking around the Astaro website and datasheet, I still couldn't find the spec of this device. Does anyone know?
We currently use Linksys WRT54GL routers flashed with the openWRT firmware to connect our regional sites using openssl VPN. These routers have 16MB RAM and 8MB ROM. Each office has around 5 users, mainly using SMB and VOIP. Our VOIP server is located in our main office behind a gateway 220.
We find that the Linksys router is becoming our bottleneck with constant very high CPU utilization and quite often there are jitters in the VOIP calls (we haven't used QoS here).
Is this a suitable case for deploying a RED? How are your experiences in comparison to other IPSec devices? I have seen from the forums that it can do split tunneling, can QoS also be configured?
Would it be better to go for a security gateway 110 instead of RED in our cases?
An extra piece of information, the main office has a 20MB optic fiber connection and the typical internet bandwidth for the regional offices is a symmetric 1MB.
Many thanks as always,
Eddie
