Hello
A customer asked me, if he can take the RED and VoIP Phone he has at home into a hotel and plug it in there.
I know that this is possible basically, because the RED does not care about the network it is plugged in, as long it has DHCP and Internet access.
But, on a lot of hotels you need to login on a webpage before you are able to access the internet.
Maybe, the hotel does not filter port 3400 at all. Not very likely, but possible. Of course not the best solution.
Second idea was to configure split tunnel before he takes the RED off the network. Only letting the internal networks of the main office through the tunnel. Then i think he should be able to connect to the gateway of the hotel and log in. Because this traffic also goes through the RED, the gateway registers the MAC of the RED and establishing the tunnel should work.
What do you think? Does that work??
Thanks
Urs
