What's your fastest RED transfer rate?

Hi,
   Just wanted to see what others RED transfer rates are like.  So far the fastest that I've gotten...

15.35Mbps ASG220->RED
15.48Mbps RED->ASG220

The above tests were done using Robocopy to copy a 316.43MB file. The test computer on the RED was running XP 32-bit.  The test computer behind the ASG220 was a file server running 2000 Server.  The test file was Windows XP Service Pack 3 Redistributable.  The RED was connected through a Trendnet TEW-639GR router.  My ASG220 CPU usage was around 40-50% during the tests. 

My internet speed wasn't a limiting factor because the ASG220 and the RED/Trendnet were both connected through a 100Mbps switch to my AT&T provided Cisco IAD2432-24FXS router.

Also, I've found that the router that the RED connects through greatly affects the throughput.  Using an old Linksys BEFSR41, I was only seeing 6.78Mbps down, 4.43Mbps up.

    Hi

    I am from India here at the branch office the people have max of 2 Mbps DSL connection and minimum of 512 Kbps.After installing RED at the branch office the employees at the branch office really get very slow speed while surfing the internet.

    At the Headquater they have a lease line of 2 Mbps

    What is the minimum bandwidth required at the branch office so that members at the branch office can easily access the internet?

    upload is your biggest concern.  if you have a variable rate always figure you are getting the worst.  Even 2megabits isn't all that fast.  consider above with a clean 100 meg connection between the devices he only got 15% of that total.  Part of it is windows smb is highly inefficient..throw in vpn encapsulation overhead etc etc etc and you can see 512kbps is going to crawl.

    BP, you might be running into latency associated with the SSL VPN technology being used for RED.  Did you try the same test using 10mb instead of 100?

    Hmmm, that'd be an interesting test.  Unfortunately I don't have any 10Mbps equipment.  Even with the 100Mbps switch, when I was doing my ping tests it was only 2 or 3ms.

    I did find that using a Windows 7 PC on the RED network resulted in 15-20% better transfer rates.  I didn't have it around to try with the newer Trendnet router.  My original results may have been even better using that PC.

    You can set the speed on the Astaro interface manually to 10mbps.
