RED and Base License?

Hallo!

Is RED working with an ASG-Base-License or is a Net-Sec-Subscription needed?

  • But, Is the network security subscribtion support any number of RED devices, in other word, with network security subscribtion how many RED devices I can connect to the same ASG.
  • To support RED functionality, you do need to have NEtwork Security enabled --- this subscription allows you to use as many REDs as your hardware (ASG) and bandwidth will support.  If you are using a Software or Virtual License (or an ASG 110), the IPs behind each RED do count against your total user count.

  • And if I use ASG 120 or above , the IPs behind each RED DO NOT count against my total user count?????
  • And if I use ASG 120 or above , the IPs behind each RED DO NOT count against my total user count?????

ASG unit's from the 120 onwards (120/220/320/etc) don't have IP limits. The number of users/IP's supported are limited by the hardware & enabled features.

An ASG 120 for example can theoretically support up to 80 users with just the firewall turned on. However, add in several VPN tunnels, transparent web proxy, & IPS and I can bring an ASG120(rev3) to it's knees with only 20 active users. [;)]
  • What Drew said -- basically on a 120 and up, or unlimited software license, your only real limit is what the hardware can handle.
